About the Artist

Victoria Dempsey grew up in the small town of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. A creative soul from early on, she experimented throughout her childhood with any medium possible - oil, pen & ink, clay, charcoal, etc. Art naturally became her main focus during her high school years.
Though she continued to paint, art took a new direction at Gannon University in the form of poetry & short works of fiction.
She graduated from Gannon University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications/English & an emphasis in Creative Writing.
After graduation she continued her love of literature by joining the staff of a quaint independent book store, The Erie Book Store, in the city she grew to love during college. It was at this point when she began experimenting once again with new mediums. Eventually, painting on whatever means available led her to what you see here on these pages. Many different types of dyes & water colors dyed into different North American woods. It was an unexpected fluke that's been perfected over time. This unique work is actually engrained in the wood & sealed in a high-gloss polyurethane to preserve it's color & highlight each wood's natural grain.
Presently, her works are available at various music & art festivals, galleries & restaurants, as well as here - online. Victoria lives in Erie, PA with her husband Jack and their Weimaraner, Ellwood Blues. She still manages the Erie Book Store part-time while taking time to paint & travel.
